Slabey was a Slovak American Baptist pastor. He was head of the Bethlehem Slovak Congregational Church in Duquesne, Pa. from 1936 to 1983. During WWI he was active in patriotic organizations, both American and Czechoslovakian. He also taught Slovak language and literature at Columbia University during 1935 and 1936.
